oil mist

A method of cooling and lubricating the main bearings. Compressed air atomizes the oil at a nozzle adjacent to the bearings. The air helps cool the bearings while oil lubricates them. Not all the oil can be recovered in the engine operating at higher loadings; this results in higher bearing temperatures. This, in turn, results in high oil consumption.
